A few months ago I received an inquiry from Tessa who found me through Wedding Wire looking for photographers for her wedding. Tessa and Kyle are planning their wedding for July 2017 at the magical resort Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Playa del Carmen.
We exchanged several emails talking about my ideas and her ideas for their big day. I was really excited about the fact of photographing her wedding, I have shot many weddings at the Sandos Caracol and I must say that I love it.
Tessa told me that she and Kyle would be traveling to Playa del Carmen to check the venue and other things related to the wedding and that would be a good chance to meet. I thought that it would be awesome if I could also take their engagement portraits.
After considering different locations for the photos we finally decided to spend one day in Isla Mujeres, a small island in front of Cancun.
It was early in the morning when we took the Ultramar Ferry in Puerto Juarez towards Isla Mujeres. It took us just 20 minutes to arrive to the island. For 40 USD you can rent a golf cart for the day to drive around the island and that is what we did.
We chose some beautiful spots for the photos. Among them: the pier, Hacienda Mundaca, the beach and we finished in Punta Sur by the cliff.
Once the photoshoot was over we stopped for lunch at Rolandi’s, a restaurant famous for the italian food and mediterranean dishes, you have to try their pizza too ! The whole day was a great adventure and I got to know a lot more Tessa and Kyle who I can call from now on “my friends”. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding, it will be a blast for sure !
